For us down south, we're barely starting to get some real cold weather , with the temperatures dipping into the 40's. This calls for some real sweater season.Top coats, jackets, wind guards/ windbreakers are appropriate as well but today I want to share with you my top 7 sweater picks for the winter. One thing you should consider when choosing your sweater is the weight of the garment used to fabricate the piece, all depends on your body type.

1. Crew Neck Sweater

This sweater has a basic collar neckline and can be worn very casual or dress it to a business casual outfit. A little too casual for formal and semi-formal events. Wear it alone, with a t-shirt underneath or pair it with a Sport or dress shirt. Won't recommend a tie since the neck line will cover it up.

2. V-Neck Sweater

Almost similar to the crew neck sweater withthe exception of the 'V' shaped neckline. Can also be worn casually and maybe even semi-formal events depending on the attire. The "V" neck line will accentuate a tie or bow tie.

3, Cardigan Sweater

A cardigan opens up at the front with anywhere from 3 to 5 buttons. This is a classic wardrobe piece to have , as you can wear it many different ways, from casual to semi formal. Can wear a tie, bow tie, or a simple t-shirt. Worn buttoned up or open.

4. Shawl-Collar Cardigan Sweater

A different version fo the cardigan with the neck line being chunkier. Perfect for winter time , as it lays close to the neck. Can replace a jacket used as a top layer, all depends on the fabric used. This can be worn either casual or semi-formal, again depends on the wight of the fabrics used.

5.Mock-Neck Sweater

The Mock-neck is a simpler variant of the polo collar sweater and the turtle neck sweater. You can fold down the collar as it easily folds down or wear the collar up. This sweater is a casual dress garment.

6. Shawl-Collar Pull-Over Sweater

This here is practically a sweater with a shawl-collar. Very self-explanatory. Can be worn casual and dressed up. A dress shirt and tie can be worn or just a simple t shirt will do.

7. Turtle / Roll-Up Neck Sweater

Has a neckline that rolls up or folds up/down. Covers most of the neck eve when folded down. Can be worn by itself or layered with a topcoat. A timeless piece to own.
